A message from President Sean Kennedy and NC Cares 2026 Co-Chairs, Leah Neamtu and Nimisha Sumathi:
Today marks the launch of our 2026 NC Cares in a United Way workplace campaign, and I am pleased to recognize this year’s Co-Chairs, Leah Neamtu and Nimisha Sumathi, and our dedicated NC Cares Campaign Committee, who are leading NC’s effort to support our local community.
Giving back to the communities we serve has always been an important part of who we are at Niagara College. Year after year, our employees demonstrate their generosity and commitment to helping others through our annual United Way workplace campaign. Together, we have contributed more than $1 million to United Way over the years, making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families across Niagara.
This year marks a new chapter for our longstanding partnership with United Way. Earlier this year, United Way Niagara joined with United Ways across the region to form United Way Golden Horseshoe, strengthening regional collaboration while maintaining its commitment to supporting local communities. In 2025-2026, United Way’s support in Niagara helped 139,497 people through 44 agencies and 87 programs and projects.
These numbers are a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we work together, and the importance of continuing to support the programs and services that so many people in our community benefit from.
As we kick off this year’s campaign, I encourage everyone to get involved in whatever way you can. One of the easiest ways to give is through NC’s online payroll deduction program, where you can select a donation amount that works for you or make a one-time contribution. You can also visit the NC Cares website to learn about other ways to donate and support the campaign.
Our campaign launches today, with online engagement opportunities and the opening of payroll deductions through the NC payroll portal. Over the coming weeks, our NC Cares Campaign Committee will share more opportunities to participate and get involved. I encourage you to follow along on the NC Cares website and InsideNC for campaign updates.
A big thank you to our NC community for your continued generosity and support. Whether through donations, volunteering or helping to spread the word, every contribution makes a difference and helps strengthen the communities where we live and work.
I look forward to seeing our NC community come together once again, united #NCTogether, to continue our tradition of giving back and making a positive impact across Niagara.
