Niagara College employees put their strength behind a good cause on September 21, participating in United Way Golden Horseshoe’s 5th Annual Firetruck Pull in St. Catharines.

Held at the Seymour-Hannah Sports and Entertainment Centre, the annual firetruck pull brought together 21 teams from local workplaces and the community to test their strength and teamwork while raising funds to support United Way programs and services.

Team NC took on the challenge of pulling a full-sized fire truck across 100 feet, finishing 11th overall with a pull time of 17.10 seconds.

Representing NC were the NC Cares Campaign Co-Chairs Nimisha Sumathi and Leah Neamtu, along with other NC Cares supporters, including Christal Langerak, Ryan Morris, Matt Orr, Steve Kosh, Danny Cvetanovic, Jennifer Murphy, Tom Price, Carly Root and Lindsey Hendriks.

This year’s Firetruck Pull raised more than $36,000 in support of the Golden Horseshoe region. Earlier this year, United Way Niagara became part of the newly formed United Way Golden Horseshoe, bringing together United Ways across the region under a new name while maintaining a focus on local impact. Funds raised through the firetruck pull help support programs and services for individuals and families and strengthen communities across the region.

Team NC’s participation in the Firetruck Pull comes ahead of the launch of NC’s annual United Way workplace campaign that will kick off on Tuesday, October 6.
