Get ready to sip, savour and learn – a new NC Craft Masterclass is ready to take flight.
Tickets are now available for NC Craft Masterclass Welcome to Wine Country. The two-hour guided tasting event will take place Thursday, August 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the NC Craft Beverage Centre.
Designed as an immersive experience for visiting and local wine enthusiasts or anyone curious about Niagara wines, the event will take guests on a guided journey through the vineyards, microclimates and stories that make Niagara one of Canada’s premier wine regions. Attendees will discover how local soils and winemaking traditions shape Niagara wines will getting an insider’s look at the next generation of winemakers learning their craft.
Allison Findlay, Head Winemaker at the NC Teaching Winery, noted that the event presents an opportunity for guests to not only enjoy Niagara wine, but learn more about where it comes from, why it tastes so good, and what sets it apart from other wines around the world.
“We are the Teaching Winery, so who better to take you on this journey of education and immersive experience,” said Findlay. “We have a very unique location, nestled next to the escarpment and only a few kilometers from Lake Ontario that makes our estate vineyard an excellent place to showcase the importance of microclimate on Ontario wines.”
“This is geared to people who are new to Niagara or who have been getting into visiting wineries, and who want more in-depth knowledge of the industry, and the structure of wine tasting,” said Brad Tandy, Events and Marketing Coordinator, NC Craft, who will lead the inaugural masterclass.
Tandy noted that while the NC Craft Beverage Centre – formerly the Wine Visitor + Education Centre – has hosted seminars in the past, the new Masterclass series aligns directly with the rebranded NC Craft identity launched in May. Future events will tap into the expertise of makers across the College’s Teaching Winery, Teaching Brewery and Teaching Distillery – all the first facilities of their kind in Canada.
“We want to show that we are the winery where you can actually learn about wine – or beer or spirits – as the series progresses,” said Tandy.
The inaugural masterclass experience includes five guided wine tastings, artisanal cheese and charcuterie, an illustrated Niagara wine map, guided tasting notes, a masterclass workbook, take-home resources and more.
To keep the setting personal and interactive, registration will be capped at 20 guests.
Tickets are $69 per person and may be reserved online through the NC Craft event page.
