The rain didn’t dampen NC’s spirit as members of the College community proudly represented the “NC Knights on the Run” team at this year’s Rankin Cancer Run.

Held May 23 at Brock University, the annual family-friendly fundraiser brought together participants from across Niagara in support of local cancer care. Despite wet and windy conditions throughout the day, 18 members of the College took part in the event, showcasing NC’s commitment to supporting community and giving back.
The NC Knights on the Run surpassed their fundraising goal, raising a total of $2,400 in support of cancer care across the Niagara region.

Jana Boniferro, Director of Development and Alumni Relations and Ali Ryder, Outreach and Education Advisor led the team as co-captains and praised the enthusiasm and dedication shown by the NC community throughout the day.
“I’m just in awe of everyone showing up in great spirits despite the inclement weather,” said Boniferro. “It just goes to show that when the NC community comes together, we’re there for all the good, bad and everything in between, with our same NC spirit.”
“It was incredibly special to have members of our executive team attend,” added Ryder. “With Dorita Pentesco (Vice President, Enrolment) there first thing in the morning to set up the tent and the last to leave, helping us load up the truck; Gord Arbeau (Vice President, External Relations) huddling everyone together in the tent to ensure we stay as dry as possible; and President Sean Kennedy and his wife Kerry were drenched and didn’t care – taking pictures for other teams, connecting with participants, and President Kennedy even running the race!”
NC’s presence was felt throughout the event, with employees volunteering, supporting family activities and helping contribute to the welcoming community atmosphere. NC volunteers supported the kids’ sprint during the morning festivities, helping spread school spirit while cheering on young participants as they raced through the rain.
Event organizers expressed appreciation for the College community’s enthusiasm and support throughout the event.
Beyond fundraising, the day provided an opportunity for community engagement and connection among NC employees, students, alumni and their families while supporting a meaningful, local cause.
