St. Catharines Standard: NC’s Fins and Feathers program brings happiness to long-term-care homes

The three Niagara dailies (Niagara Falls Review, St. Catharines Standard, Welland Tribune) reported on NC’s Healthy Aging and Wellness Innovation Centre’s (HAWIC) Fins and Feathers program, which uses robotic therapy animals in long-term-care homes. The article highlights Research Lead Christine Wilkinson’s work developing the program, her interest in dementia care, and her decision to purchase PARO, a robotic therapy seal, after learning about its use in Japan while creating a course focused on aging populations.
