A feature by St. Catharines Standard reporter Victoria Nicolaou, also syndicated to the Niagara Falls Review and Welland Tribune showcases Niagara College’s newly opened $12-million Horticulture and Environmental Sciences Innovation Centre (HESIC) Greenhouse.
The story outlines how the state-of-the-art facility transforms NC’s applied research capacity, moving from a single shared greenhouse bench to five fully controlled research bays with independent climate and lighting systems. The expanded space allows researchers to conduct real-world trials for greenhouse crops, fertilizers, technologies and more.
NC’s Acting Associate Director Scott Golem highlighted the new capabilities, saying: “It’s like a scientific playground for plant nerds … everything I’ve always wanted to do in research, we now have the capabilities to do it.”
