The Learning Centre Presents: November 2025 Workshop Series

As students prepare for the last stretch of the Fall semester, the Libraries and Learning Commons team is excited to launch a new series of workshops designed to help students build the skills they need for college success.

These short, focused sessions are free to all students and will cover essential study strategies – from managing your time to taking effective notes – that can make a big difference in your academic journey.

Workshops will be offered at both the Welland Campus and the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake in the Libraries and Learning Commons. Students are welcome to attend any session that fits their schedule and learning goals and are asked to register using the NC Engage app.

Below is a list of the upcoming sessions:

Academic Writing and Paragraph Structure
Daniel J. Patterson Campus – Nov. 5, 1 – 1:30 p.m.
Welland Campus – Nov. 5, 11-11:30 a.m.

This session breaks down how to write organized and clear academic paragraphs, teaching students how to build strong points, support them with evidence, and link ideas together.

Citation Styles and Academic Integrity
Daniel J. Patterson Campus – Nov. 12, 1 – 1:30 p.m.
Welland Campus – Nov. 12, 11 – 11:30 a.m.

Students will learn how to avoid common mistakes, use free tools to cite properly, and stay on the right side of academic integrity.

Presentation Skills
Daniel J. Patterson Campus – Nov. 19, 1 – 1:30 p.m.
Welland Campus – Nov. 19, 11 – 11:30 a.m.

This practical session will provide tips on how to improve presentation slides and enhance speaking confidence. Students will leave with resources to help them prep for their next presentation.

Final Exam Strategies
Daniel J. Patterson Campus – Nov. 26, 11 – 11:30 a.m.
Welland Campus – Nov. 26, 1 – 1:30 p.m.

This short session is designed to help students strengthen their existing skills by reviewing new strategies, creating a personalized exam planner and providing them with resources they can use right away.
