Niagara College recognizes November as Woman Abuse Prevention Month, and the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office is encouraging students to take part in programming.

Violence against women in Canada is a pervasive issue, impacting people across backgrounds and settings. Awareness is essential to pave the way toward a safer and more inclusive society for all. This month of significance is an opportunity to unite to help end violence against women in our communities.

Art Contest

Throughout November, Consent is Key is hosting an art contest to raise awareness about gender-based violence. Students are invited to create a piece of art in any format (visual art, written art, performing arts, social media graphics) that touches on a theme related to gender-based violence.

Two winners will be selected, earning a $50 gift card each and having their artwork featured online @consentiskeync and in future campaigns.

All submissions are due by November 30 at 8 p.m. To enter, complete this Form.

Consent is Key

We are all expected to practice consent: with partners, dates, friends, colleagues… and anyone that crosses our path. Consent promotes wellness, respect, understanding and it’s the law.

Consent is one of the ways to prevent sexual violence. The ongoing Consent is Key campaign provides our college community with awareness and events on topics related to sexual violence prevention. The Consent is Key website offers a number of services to anyone impacted by sexual and/or gender-based violence, including resources, how to file a complaint and how to get help or support.
