Calling all staff and faculty with expertise in climate-smart agriculture, sustainability, applied research, and inclusive education.
Niagara College’s Institute for Global Education and Training is preparing to submit a proposal in collaboration with other Canadian Institutions under Colleges and Institutes Canada’s (CICan) new international initiative: Egypt Green Skills for Climate-Smart Agribusiness Network (EGYCAN-02).
If awarded, Niagara College will collaborate with partners from Egypt and Canada to support the development of an innovative Agribusiness Centre of Competence (CoC) – a specialized training hub designed to develop industry-relevant skills in climate-smart fruit crop production and post-harvest handling in the Nile Delta region.
Call for Niagara College Experts
For inclusion in the proposal and future engagement*, we are now looking for experts in the following areas:
- Climate-smart agriculture and sustainability
- Food safety, post-harvest handling, and quality control
- Agribusiness logistics, material resource planning, and procurement
- Curriculum development and capacity building
- Gender equality and inclusive teaching strategies
- Applied research in agri-food or environmental studies
- Train-the-trainer pedagogy and teacher mentorship
*To be confirmed if awarded the contract, and after Terms of Reference are determined with partners.
EGYCAN-02 Timeline
- Proposal submission: June 9, 2025
- Online interviews with Egyptian partners: Week of June 16, 2025
- Workplan development and agreement signing: September-October 2025
- Project start date: October 2025

About EGYCAN
The EGYCAN program is a five-year (2024-2029) $9.9 million project funded by the Government of Canada. EGYCAN will strengthen the capacity of ten Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions in the Delta region of Egypt to deliver innovative, gender- and industry-responsive, and climate-smart programs that support sustainability in Egypt’s agriculture sector. The program will establish four Centres of Competence (CoCs) across Behera, Gharbia, and Menoufia, operated in partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MoETE) and local industry partners.
