On April 13, the three Niagara dailies (Niagara Falls Review, St. Catharines Standard and the Welland Tribune) reported on Niagara College’s 33rd annual gala on April 5, where a record-setting $5-million donation from the Myhal Family Foundation was made to help the College move forward with plans to expand its health-care programs and training facilities. The gift, which was the largest individual donation in the college’s 57-year history, was announced alongside a $2-million contribution from the Segal Family and GuardMe International Insurance during Niagara College’s annual gala in Niagara Falls.
The donations represent a major boost for health-care education and global learning at a time of mounting financial pressures for Ontario post-secondary institutions.
NC’s VP of Advancement, Gord Arbeau is quoted in the article saying that the financial support has “never been more important than now.”
“This is a significant catalyst for our plans to expand our healthcare facilities in Welland but it’s not the final step,” he added. “We are still actively seeking further support to help us realize these quite ambitious goals.”
