The three Niagara dailies (Niagara Falls Review, St. Catharines Standard and Welland Tribune) released an article announcing that beginning in fall 2025, Niagara College and Mohawk College will create dedicated learning spaces in specific high-demand programs not available at their own institutions.
NC’s Vice-President of Academic, Fiona Allan said in the article that there’s been a rising awareness that staffing shortages in areas such as diagnostic imaging “could become even more critical” as the region prepares to welcome a new hospital in south Niagara Falls.
The partnership involves Mohawk reserving spots for NC pre-health science graduates in several of its diploma programs, including cardiovascular technology, medical radiation sciences-radiography, medical radiation sciences-ultrasonography and biotechnology. In turn, NC will provide space for Mohawk students in its dental hygiene and paramedic programs.
“Both Mohawk and Niagara think that we found an efficient, effective, collaborative way to help meet the needs of the health-care industries in our communities and also give students a great experience without having to go too far from their home,” said Allan.
