On December 9, Dr. Marc Nantel, NC’s Vice President of Research, Innovation, and Strategic Enterprises, was interviewed by Steph Vivier on CKTB to discuss the College’s achievement of earning the No. 1 ranking for colleges in Canada for research funding for the second consecutive year.
When asked about maintaining the No. 1 ranking and the College’s strategy for securing research funds, Nantel stated, “I’ve always thought that you need stability…we try to look at the long term and larger grants, and that really solidifies our position.”
Vivier also inquired how students perceive the top research ranking and how it has impacted the recruitment of prospective students.
“Students already get a great hands-on education at the College in all of our programs, but [we also offer them the opportunity to] do a research projects with real industry partners, with…real budgets, real outcomes, and it gets them more ready for when they graduate to hit the job market running. So, I think students look at what colleges offer them more opportunities to do research projects.”
