Niagara College is excited to announce its partnership with Conestoga, Mohawk College and Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters to offer a new Manufacturing Leadership micro-credential.
This initiative, facilitated through the College’s Workforce Development and Community Partnerships area, is part of a provincial effort to equip Ontario’s workforce with the necessary skills to meet evolving labour market demands.
The Manufacturing Leadership micro-credential, which launched in Fall 2024, aims to enhance the skills of professionals in the manufacturing sector. As manufacturing industries continue to adopt advanced technologies like automation and AI, strong leadership is essential to guide teams through transformation, streamline operations, and maintain a competitive edge. Leadership skills in manufacturing enable professionals to lead cross-functional teams, improve workflow efficiency, and adapt to changing market conditions, ensuring sustained success in a highly competitive global market.
This program is made possible through a grant awarded under the Micro-credential Challenge Fund – Round 2, and is available through Niagara College’s Part-time Studies.
“In today’s rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape, leadership skills are more critical than ever,” said Rebecca Nichols, Associate Dean, Academic Studies. “The Manufacturing Leadership micro-credential equips professionals with the ability to navigate complex environments, foster innovation, and drive operational excellence. By developing skills in people management and process optimization, this credential empowers leaders to not only meet industry demands but to set new standards for efficiency and growth.”
The micro-credential comprises six courses, each 21 hours long, developed with extensive industry input. Key topics include advanced manufacturing trends, current technologies, process improvement, employee health and safety, and effective leadership skills. A key component of the program is its focus on creating equitable, diverse, and inclusive work environments, essential for today’s manufacturing leaders.
Courses are offered online asynchronously, providing maximum flexibility for working professionals. Additionally, sponsored deliveries for groups can be arranged to meet specific employer needs.
Registration for the Manufacturing Leadership micro-credential is now open. Prospective students and interested employers can learn more by visiting: www.niagaracollege.ca/parttimestudies/online/programs/manufacturing/#overview
