The Niagara College Aurora Armory shines among the best and brightest in town, with a new Business Excellence Award in Hospitality and Food Services.
The award, from the Aurora Chamber of Commerce, was announced at its 2024 Business Excellence Celebration on October 23.
The Hospitality and Food Services category recognizes a restaurant, independently owned franchise, catering service, or bakery, that consistently provides excellent products and services, outstanding hospitality, and customer experience. The criteria used to judge nominees included: consistently provides excellent products, outstanding customer experience, innovative products, health and safety, vision and employee relations, and must be in business for one year or more years.
“The Armory ranked high in all the areas,” said Sandra Ferri, President and CEO, Aurora Chamber of Commerce.
Thanks to an innovative partnership between the Town of Aurora and NC, the Niagara College Aurora Armory opened in 2019 in the heart of downtown Aurora.
The recognized Federal Heritage Building was purchased by the Town in 2014 and was restored to become a community gathering space. It operates primarily as an event space and is open to the public from September to May for culinary classes. It also operates dining service, which is open to the public, from May to October.
This isn’t the first award for the Armory. Its transformation from one of Ontario’s oldest armouries into a vibrant culinary and community hub was recognized with two design awards in 2022, an award from the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), as well as an Architectural Conservancy of Ontario (ACO) heritage award.
The Aurora Armory is located at 89 Mosley Street, Aurora (in Town Park). For information, visit ncauroraarmoury.ca
