A message from Adam Dusome, Registrar.
I’m pleased to share that Dr. Gergana Alzeer has joined our team as the new Student Appeals Manager. In this role, Gergana will manage and coordinate the formal academic appeal process and engage with teams and colleagues across the College as a key resource in addressing academic integrity issues and student academic misconduct.
Gergana brings over 15 years of dedicated experience in student support and student affairs management in higher education. She has held various roles in academia, including teaching, academic management, and student support. Her robust educational and professional background is focused on development, capacity building, and enhancing student experiences, providing a solid foundation for supporting student success and academic integrity initiatives.
Gergana holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences focused on students’ experiences and a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Development Studies. She enjoys interacting with colleagues and students, and when not working, you can find her walking in nature, exploring new tracks, travelling, or practicing yoga.
Gergana started her role on August 6. Please join me in welcoming her to the Niagara College community.
I would also like to take this opportunity to share my sincere appreciation for the incredible support Brigitte Chiki has given Niagara College and Enrolment Services over the past 11+ years supporting student appeals and academic misconduct as our Appeals Manager. I couldn’t have been more fortunate to have the former Director of Student Services offer to help us on an interim basis, that ended up spanning more than a decade. Please join me in congratulating Brigitte on her 2nd retirement from NC, and all the best in her future adventures.
