A message from Craig Youdale, Dean, Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies:
The Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies division, along with our Benchmark leadership team, are excited to announce our new Sous Chef for Benchmark foodservice, Chef Anthony Greco.
Chef Anthony is an alumnus who is returning to NC with over 15 years of experience in the culinary industry. His culinary journey started at the iconic Hillebrand Winery which led him to a range of some of the finest Niagara-based culinary establishments including, Zee’s, Deluca Wine Country Restaurant, Commisso’s Fresh Foods, Zest, and Picone Culinary Studio. Most recently, he led the culinary team at Niagara Oast House Brewers, where he was instrumental in developing their celebrated Central Texas BBQ and traditional Patina pizza offerings.
Chef Anthony’s passion for culinary arts first garnered significant recognition during his student years at NC, beginning with a prestigious culinary exchange in Portugal on behalf of the College at the Canadian Embassy. His career quickly flourished, earning him a spot in the Ontario Hostelry Institute’s Top 30 Under 30. His skills and dedication to the culinary arts continued to gain recognition through his representation of Canada at the esteemed James Beard House in New York City in 2018, honouring the most distinguished professionals in the field.
“More than 15 years ago, Niagara College was the gateway into the Hospitality industry for me,” said Greco. “It allowed me the chance develop relationships with chefs, professors, and classmates and gain access to their knowledge, wisdom and guidance. I am excited to return to NC and provide those same opportunities and build those same connections with the next generations of hospitality professionals.”
“We are very honoured to welcome such a fantastic professional into the Benchmark team,” said Victor Pauka Alves De Oliveira, Manager, Catering & Special Events. “Once again Benchmark has raised the bar of excellence.”
“We are all excited to have Anthony join us in the kitchen to work beside our culinary students at Benchmark,” said Chef Justin Downes, Benchmark. “Anthony brings a multitude of experience and knowledge for our students to soak up.”
We are thrilled for our students to have the opportunity to learn from Chef Anthony’s extensive culinary expertise. Please join us in welcoming Chef Anthony Greco back to the Niagara College family.
