Students and employees sipped their way to supporting International Day of Pink this month through the Niagara College Student Administrative Council’s Coffee for a Cause initiative.
International Day of Pink Day is recognized globally as a day to stand in solidarity and allyship with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities against homophobic hate and violence. The day was celebrated on April 10 this year with a theme of “Visibility!” – celebrating visibility in all it’s forms, being seen, acknowledged respected and listened to.
On April 10, NC students, staff and faculty were invited to and purchase coffee and teas at NCSAC’s cafes, The Shack and The Undergrounds, with proceeds earmarked for the International Day of Pink organization.
In total, more than $480 was raised and donated to the organization, which is dedicated to creating awareness and change through education and developing initiatives that support the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across Canada.
Heartfelt thanks to NCSAC for their generosity and to everyone who purchased beverages and wore pink on April 10, showing their support for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
