Students and employees are invited to join NC’s Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services (HWAS) as they reveal inspiring artwork created by NC students and members from Willow Arts Community.
Four large scale art pieces – each created through a diversity and inclusion lens – will be revealed at an event, happening on April 22 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Wellness Lounge (S174) at the Welland Campus.
The event will begin with brief remarks from Dr. Karen Csoli, Director, HWAS – Welland Campus; Dr. Chris McGrath, Vice President, Students; and Shauna MacLeod, Founder and Executive Director of Willow Arts Community. The art will be revealed around 1 p.m.
HWAS commissioned the artwork to brighten up its reception area at the Welland Campus, with a goal of making it more welcoming for students. Through the initiative, two NC students worked with two members from Willow Arts, who mentored the students during the creation process. All four artists will be at the event to unveil and talk about their creations, which will be displayed in the HWAS office (Welland) in the coming weeks.
Registration is not required to attend. Following remarks and the unveiling, the artists, as well as staff from HWAS and Willow Arts, will be in the Wellness Lounge until 2:30 p.m. to mingle with guests who drop by. Refreshments will also be available.
