Niagara College is thrilled to announce an enlightening event for the NC community. On March 27, the College will host “The History and Cultural Impact of Moutai Spirits,” with a lecture and tasting delivered by the prestigious Moutai Institute from China.

The event is a collaboration between NC’s Global Business Development team and the School of Wine, Beer and Spirits and invites all members of the NC community to join the webinar virtually. The tasting session of Baiju, a celebrated Chinese liquor, is exclusively reserved for Artisan Distillery program students and faculty, taking place in tasting rooms at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

All members of the NC community are cordially invited to virtually attend the webinar via Microsoft Teams. Additionally, an exclusive tasting session of baijiu, the renowned Chinese liquor, awaits Artisan Distillery program students and faculty. This session will take place in the tasting rooms (HT116 and HT117) at the Daniel J. Patterson campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This event is a collaborative effort between NC’s Global Business Development team and the School of Wine, Beer and Spirits.

Baijiu holds a significant place in Chinese culture and heritage. The Moutai Institute, renowned for its expertise in its production, will delve into the rich history and making process of this iconic spirit during the webinar. This event not only offers valuable insights into the cultural significance of baijiu but also provides a unique learning opportunity for students and faculty in the Distillery program.

The partnership between Niagara College and the Moutai Institute was first established in 2019 and has since generated mutual growth and knowledge exchange.

“The webinar is part of a series of knowledge exchange activities between NC and the Moutai Institute,” said Nguyen Le (June), NC’s Global Business Development Manager for East Asia and the Middle East. “The institutions will collaborate in the development of student exchange, faculty exchange, and joint Research & Development programs that will enable the production of baijiu in Canada and icewine in China.”
