Last week of Wellbeing Month activities for students

It’s the final week of Wellbeing Month programming for students featuring workshops, activities and events that focus on the theme “Physical and Social Health Week.”

This week’s offerings include a free skate on February 16 (2-4 p.m.) at the Welland Main Area that is open to all NC employees, students and their families. Please bring your own skates and helmets, as there will be no equipment rental available.

Highlights for Feb. 12-16:

Dancing Demo by NC Dance Club
February 12 @ 11:30 a.m. – 12:20 p.m.
Presented by NC Dance Club
Turn up the music to Daddy Yankee and Mark Anthony! Bring your dancing (indoor) shoes and join the dance club as they showcase and teach a salsa and reggaeton number. All levels welcome!

Hand and Arm Massage Demo
February 13 @ 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Presented by the Esthetician students at NC’s Teaching Spa
Indulge in a moment of relaxation and self-care with our Hand and Arm Massage Demo, presented by the talented Esthetician students as part of our Wellness Month celebration. Join us for an immersive experience designed to help you feel rejuvenated!

Tea Meditation
February 13 @ 12 – 1 p.m.
Presented by schools of Culinary Arts and Wine, Beer and Spirits
Join Edward Qu in learning about the benefits of tea on your wellbeing in this fun, interactive, and information workshop. Demonstrations will take place and participation from audience members is encouraged! Spaces are limited so please come early!

Badminton Tournament
February 13 @ 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. and February 16 @ 2:30 – 5:30 p.m.
Presented by Athletics and Student Engagement
Grab your Yonex rackets and sneaker up! Join us as we have a fun afternoon, battling for the ultimate bragging rights of who will get the winning birdie! Sign up early to secure a spot! Light snacks will be provided after the tournament.

Candy & Condoms
February 13 @ 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.  (NOTL)
February 14 @ 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. (Welland)
Presented by Health, Wellness and Accessibility
Join our HWAS nursing staff, Niagara Region Public Health, and Positive Living Niagara in learning about the services they offer to support sexual health. Nursing staff will be available to schedule STI testing (but no testing will be done this day).

Meet Your HWAS Nurse
February 15 @ 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Presented by Health, Wellness and Accessibility
Join us in the Wellness Lounge (at both campuses) to meet your HWAS nursing staff. Learn about the services we offer. Play Jenga and have a healthy snack (while quantities last).

Family Free Skating at Welland Rink
February 16 @ 2- 4 p.m.
Presented by Athletics and Student Engagement
Bring your skates and helmets for a free open skate for all NC employees, students and their families! Come and enjoy a great Canadian past time! Please bring your own skates and helmets. There will be no equipment rental available.

Wellbeing Month is being hosted by NC’s Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services (HWAS) in collaboration with Athletics and Student Engagement, schools of Culinary Arts and Wine, Beer and Spirits, Enrolment Services (Financial Aid and Awards), Indigenous Education, International, NCSAC and more. Community partners are also participating.
