Students looking for strategies and tips for living a balanced life can look forward to participating in the many workshops, activities and events on offer during Niagara College’s Wellbeing Month.

The initiative is being led for the first time by NC’s Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services (HWAS) in collaboration with Athletics and Student Engagement, schools of Culinary Arts and Wine, Beer and Spirits, Enrolment Services (Financial Aid and Awards), Indigenous Education, International, NCSAC and more. Community partners will also be participating.

“We are excited to invite Niagara College students out to our Wellbeing Month events and workshops,” said Yiching Chua, Counsellor at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus.

“We know that taking care of our mental health is more than just counselling. It’s about learning the various aspects of what helps us be well and healthy. This is the goal of our programming – to teach students how to take care of their overall wellbeing.”

Beginning on January 29, Wellbeing Month will feature three weeks of programming across both NC campuses. Aligning with the College’s commitment to a wholistic student experience, each week will focus on a different theme to help students learn how to support their overall wellbeing.

January 29 to February 2: Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Health Week
February 4-9: Family and Financial Health Week
February 12-16: Physical and Social Health Week

“This initiative was informed by the findings from focus groups that took place in the fall term 2023 with BIPOC/Racialized students,” added Chua. “We want to let students know that this initiative started because students shared the importance of outreach, engagement, and connection when it comes to learning about wellbeing.”
