On January 18, the three Niagara dailies (St. Catahrines Standard, Niagara Falls Review and Welland Tribune) reported on the SpacesShared partnership with Niagara College and the University of Niagara Falls Canada to connect students in search of safe, affordable housing with older adults. For Niagara College, the partnership ties in with its efforts to address the growing challenge of affordable student housing through intergenerational home-sharing.

In the article, Vice President, International Sean Coote explains that while the partnership is new, the concept of students studying and living with local families has been part of the college’s history: “It is certainly an important part of our overall housing strategy to be able to make sure that when students study they have a great place to be able to live, whether it is on campus in our dormitories or off campus.”
