On November 28, the three Niagara dailies (St. Catharines Standard, Niagara Falls Review and Welland Tribune) announced that secondary students interested in health care or early childhood education can get an early start on the college experience as NC and Niagara’s English-speaking school boards extend its educational partnership.
The article highlights that beginning next semester at Niagara College, Niagara Catholic District School Board and District School Board of Niagara will offer Grade 11 and 12 students the opportunity to enrol in two dual-credit programs.
NC’s Associate Dean, Workforce Development and Community Partnerships, Rebecca Nicholls is quoted in the article: “The reality is careers in health care and early childhood education will continue to grow with time and making these career pathways open to students at a young age really help to cement their future pathways. We’ll continue to look at labour market data and, hopefully … receive some additional supports to then target those other areas, like skilled trades.”
