This fall we are making some changes in the office of the VP Academic to ensure we meet the evolving needs of our students and college community.
I am pleased to announce that a new role has been incorporated into the VP Academic portfolio. Evan DiValentino assumed the position of Senior Director, Academic Transformation Initiatives earlier this fall. Evan will focus on space related projects to address strategic requirements identified through the work of Julie Samson, our Strategic Academic Projects Manager.
This role is designed to ensure that the implementation of the NC Master Plan and future development aligns with the learning needs of our students, the teaching requirements of our faculty, and fosters innovative and creative spaces for academic leadership. The role is committed to the mission of creating high-functioning, relevant learning spaces to deliver top-quality programs to our students.
With 12 years of experience in higher education as both an administrator and faculty member, Evan brings valuable expertise and insight to this role. His previous positions include Associate Dean of the School of Environment and Horticulture, and roles in continuing education, media, hospitality/tourism, and business. He also served as a part-time/partial-load faculty member from 2010 to 2015.
Evan’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science from Brock University, a graduate certificate from Niagara College in Environmental Management and Assessment, and a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Royal Roads University.
On November 20, Randee McIntosh will begin a new role in International Education and we wish her all the best in her new position. We are delighted to welcome Claire Price and Tara Bartolini to the VP Academic office as Executive Assistants.
Claire Price joined the team as Executive Assistant on November 6, 2023. A familiar face in the Niagara College community, Claire has been with the college since 2014 and has held various roles in Enrolment Services, and most recently as a Curriculum & Systems Specialist. Her extensive knowledge of people, policy, processes, and systems will be a great asset in supporting the team with strategic academic developments and initiatives. Claire is a proponent of lifelong learning, having earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brock University in 2009, a graduate certificate in Human Resources Management from Niagara College, and a diploma from Algonquin College in Executive Office Administration. Her diverse experience and commitment to lifelong learning, demonstrated by her academic achievements, make her a valuable addition to the team.
Tara Bartolini will join the team on November 17. She brings over a decade of professional experience in providing comprehensive administrative support to senior leaders across various industries. Her diverse background spans higher education, creative industries, and talent management. In the last five years, Tara has been an integral part of Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), contributing significantly to learning and teaching initiatives under the Vice-Provost, Academic. As the former Communications Coordinator for TMU’s Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, she played a key role in enhancing the visibility and impact of the Centre’s programs. Amid the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tara took on a crucial role in establishing a remote support hub, aiding faculty, instructors, students, and staff in transitioning to remote course delivery. Her efforts during this period earned her team the prestigious President’s Blue and Gold Award.
Please join me in welcoming Tara to Niagara College, and congratulating Claire, Randee and Evan on their new roles.
