A message from Jay Burdon, Director, Health, Wellness & Accessibility Services (Daniel J. Patterson Campus):
I am pleased to announce that Alexandra Jackson has joined the Health, Wellness & Accessibility Services (HWAS) team as Mental Health Framework Project Facilitator.
Alexandra has a BSc. in Kinesiology and a Fitness and Health Promotion Diploma from University of Guelph-Humber, a MSc. in Health and Aging from Western University and is currently completing her PhD. in the Aging and Health program at Queen’s University.
Some of you may already know Alexandra, as she first joined NC in 2019 as Research Project Manager. In this role, she managed various research projects working with the Community and Health Studies division at the time, as well as the Research & Innovation team. Her longest-standing project, funded by NSERC, facilitates footcare assessments, provided by NC’s own healthcare students, to unhoused clients in the Niagara region accessing community shelters.
In her role with HWAS, Alexandra will assist with the next step of the College’s adoption of the National Standard for Mental Health and Well-Being for Post-Secondary Students through the creation of a Student Mental Health and Well-Being Framework. As previously announced in January 2023, the development of the Framework is being supported through $100,000 in funding from the Bell Let’s Talk Post-Secondary Fund and is scheduled to be completed in October 2024.
Please join me and the HWAS team in welcoming Alexandra, who began her new role on October 30.
