This fall, Niagara College will welcome 28 new students from Japan who are looking to enhance their language skills through the English for Academic Preparation (EAP) program.
Each year through international partnerships, NC brings students from various countries into its postsecondary and English Language programs. Through a continued partnership with Japan, 15 students from Kansai Gaidai University and 13 from Bukkyo University will soon join five students from Nagoya College of Foreign Languages, who started attending EAP classes this spring and will continue their studies during the fall.
Many students pursuing NC’s EAP program are looking to better prepare themselves to be work-ready, while others are hoping the program will create a pathway to continue their studies at NC in a postsecondary certificate, degree or graduate program.
By continuously bringing the world to Niagara each term, NC supports a rich, multicultural learning environment.
Obon Festival
As most regions of Japan celebrate the Obon Festival this month (August 13-15), we take a moment to wish Happy Obon to those celebrating this special occasion. At NC, we embrace and celebrate diversity within and beyond our NC community. Japan Festival Canada, taking place in downtown Mississauga on August 19-20, is an excellent opportunity to celebrate Japanese culture. Under the theme “Connecting Japan and the World through Festivals”, this year’s event is expected to attract even more participants than in 2022, when over 100,000 people attended the festival.
