Since joining the College in November 2021, Samah has led a consultative process to develop the College’s inaugural EDI Blueprint, which launched in April 2023. With over fifteen years of working in the post-secondary education sector, Samah is now consulted by local communities and organizations for her

expertise on intersectional and collaborative approaches to building more equitable environments.

During Samah’s Innovate Niagara discussion, she addressed how Equity, Diversity and Inclusion are central to establish successful workplaces in three key, interconnected ways, including:

  1. Being foundational for building relationships that reflect our broader social surroundings.
  2. Approaching EDI in ways that are genuine and authentic can establish workplace environments that employees and clients want to join.
  3. Building EDI into the foundations of your work can help you produce a product that has a further reach.

Samah also provided the audience with strategies that can support establishing EDI into enterprises as they are built from the ground up.

“Thanks to Innovate Niagara for hosting a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion session, featuring NC’s very own Samah Sabra,” said Mabel Watt, NC’s Director, Government Relations in a post on LinkedIn. “Such a great discussion on an important topic for so many businesses, both small and large.”

Niagara College congratulates Samah and Innovate Niagara for hosting such an impactful session on the important topic of EDI in the workplace.
