After being out of school for two decades, Mechanical Techniques graduate Michael Boudreau decided to continue his education at NC. During his NC experience, he discovered new strengths, developed new goals, and achieved honourable accomplishments. We catch up with Boudreau to find out what drew him to Niagara College and what he loved most about his time here.

Tell us why you came to NC and how your dream has evolved?

I had been out of school for more than two decades, and for a couple of years, I had contemplated returning. I found a program that I was interested in and decided to put my plan into action. My initial goal was to complete the Mechanical Techniques Program and find work in the industry, which I did, and landed an industry job before even completing the program. My goal slightly changed though. I enjoyed my time at NC so much that I’ve decided to continue my education, and I’ve been accepted into the Mechanical Engineering Technology (Co-op) Program.

Tell us your favourite non-academic NC memory

The first day we went as a class for a field visit to a facility in Port Colborne, and few of my classmates carpooled with me. We were a small close-knit class and we all had a wonderful time that day.

What is one thing you experienced at NC that you didn’t expect?

I worked hard and took school very seriously, but I never expected to become an Honour Roll student. It gave me a boost of confidence that I very much needed, and I’m very grateful for that.

Now that you’re starting your career, what tools did NC give you to set you apart from your peers?

My professors at NC are very much in touch with what the industry is looking for and constructed the curriculum in such a way that made for an easy transition from school to employment.

Who would you like to thank for helping make your NC journey and dream a reality?

I’d like to thank all my professors from the program, most notably my shop teachers Lisa Caruso, Joe Fournier, and Rick Sopotyk.

What is your dream job? If you’ve already landed it, what is it?

I hope to someday be an engineering project manager.
