Health, Wellness & Accessibility Services (HWAS) knows that the holidays can be stressful and wants to remind students of the supports and services available to them.
Health and Wellness services include:
- Wellness peer support
- Mental health support
- Counselling services
- Health services
Accessibility services include:
- Supports for students with disabilities
- Academic accommodations (test accommodations, assistive technologies, letters of accommodation, etc.)
To make an appointment or to learn more about HWAS services, students are encouraged to contact the office directly by emailing [email protected] or by calling 905-735-2211 ext. 7778 (Welland Campus) or 905-641-2252 ext. 4409 (Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus).
HWAS office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Students who require assistance outside of office hours or during the winter break are encouraged to access the below resources.
Good2Talk – A free, confidential 24/7 post-secondary student helpline. Students can access professional counselling, information and referrals.
COAST Niagara – COAST provides services to people in the Niagara Region who are in crisis and have a mental health concern. Ongoing telephone support and/or referral to appropriate follow-up services may be recommended to prevent further crisis.
Distress Centre Niagara (24/7 crisis support) – This service provides emotional support, crisis intervention and suicide prevention by telephone to individuals of all ages who may be experiencing personal, family or other difficulties.
Staff and faculty who are concerned about a student’s wellbeing can Request a Student Wellness Check via the HWAS website. You can assure students that our services are confidential and voluntary.
