November 1 marks the start of Movember, the annual, month-long global fundraiser that raises awareness for men’s physical and mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
This year, Movember has partnered with Togetherall, a peer-to-peer mental health support community, in an effort to increase the number of men who access mental health support.
“Over the past 20 years, Movember has evolved and expanded into an important global movement that promotes the importance of both physical and mental health for men,” said Trina Washington, Counsellor, Health, Wellness & Accessibility Services. “Niagara College’s Health Wellness & Accessibility Services (HWAS) team is spreading Movember’s messages of support throughout the month of November to raise awareness of the vulnerability of men when it comes to their mental health.”
