A message from Pam Skinner, Senior Vice-President, College Operations:

As Niagara College anticipates significant growth and change over the next several years – both in terms of students and employees – our organization is taking steps to ensure that changes will be thoughtful and consistent to support our growth. We are committed to equity, diversity, and transparency as part of this process.

One part of these important organizational changes includes bringing consistency to how job titles for administrative leaders throughout the College are styled based on job classification levels. This nomenclature migration seeks to create consistent alignment between job classifications and position titles and to better reflect the nature of the roles.

These changes will include some director titles being re-styled with the new title of senior director, some associate director titles being re-styled as director, and some manager titles being re-styled as associate director. For consistency, people leaders (those with direct reports) will be styled as title, followed by department (eg: Director, Communications) and functional managers will be styled as function, followed by title (eg: Labour Relations Manager).

An important note is that these changes are to titles only — there are no adjustments to compensation associated with the new or revised titles, nor have the roles changed. This is a nomenclature change only that will help to align Niagara College with how positions are classified across the college system.
