A message from Brian Hughes, Interim Director, Facilities Management Services:
It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that Dave MacLeod has announced his plan to retire as of August 31, 2022.
Dave has been with FMS as Manager of Maintenance and Operations at the Welland Campus since June 2015, providing on-the-ground leadership to his team, implementing preventative maintenance programs, solving the countless challenges that come with running a campus, and working with the college community to provide safe and effective learning spaces for students.
During the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, when the majority of the College community worked from home, Dave and his team were on-site every day, working with ITS and security to ensure that the campus was safe for those students and staff who came on-site. With his positive attitude, Dave led his team through almost daily pivots as new guidelines and policies were announced.
I offer my heartfelt congratulations to Dave as he enters retirement and his next adventure. We will all miss Dave’s ever cheery disposition and his perennial mantra: “Every day is a good day.”
In lieu of a retirement celebration, Dave has opted to say his farewells individually in his final weeks on campus. With a few weeks of well-deserved vacation to be enjoyed, Dave’s last day on campus will be July 21.
