Divisional update from Dr. Rick Anderson, Vice-President, Student Success:
With the rollout of our new Strategic Plan, I am pleased to announce the realignment of some functions within the Student Success Division to best support the Plan’s Key Areas of Focus and the actions relating to the Wholistic Student Experience. This realignment is designed to reduce the scope of some broad portfolios and add additional resources to support our focus on strategic service objectives.
Student Engagement will move from Student Services and join the Athletics and Recreation team to become Niagara College’s Department of Athletics and Student Engagement led by Director, Michele O’Keefe.
With Lianne Gagnon’s upcoming retirement, the role of Director, Student Services is being rebalanced into two portfolios. A new Director of Student Services and Wellness will hold responsibility for Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services, Indigenous Education, and Student Rights and Responsibilities. A new Director of Libraries and Learning Support Services will be responsible for Libraries and Learning Commons, and Academic Advising and Career Services. Searches for both Director positions will begin shortly. On behalf of the Student Success Division, I’d like to again recognize and give thanks for the many contributions Lianne has made during her career at Niagara College.
As part of this reorganization, the overall Student Success Division will be renamed, Student Affairs Division. This change not only reflects our ongoing core commitment to supporting our students’ success, but also recognizes the Division’s liaison responsibilities within the Niagara Region and beyond.
I am excited about the opportunities this reorganization brings to our NC community and our collaborative and passionate work in Student Affairs. I look forward to engaging with you as we implement these organizational shifts and begin to realize the vision of our 2022-2027 Strategic Plan.
