A message from Hafsah Shaikh, Manager, Student Rights and Responsibilities:
I am pleased to announce that Elysia Dardarian has joined the Student Rights & Responsibilities Office as the full-time Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Coordinator.
Elysia joins Niagara College from Gillian’s Place, where she has worked for over six years. Elysia was most recently the Domestic Violence Consultant for Gillian’s Place where she serviced clients involved with Family and Children’s Services Niagara (FACS) and provided them with trauma-informed, feminist-based support and intervention, education, and advocacy. In this role, Elysia also provided ongoing consultations and education to FACS workers to assess risk and determine safe ways to engage with families. Prior to this, Elysia worked as a shelter counsellor supporting residents who have fled abuse, and individuals at risk in the community requesting help through the crisis line.
Elysia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Global Culture Studies from Western University, and a Master’s degree in Globalization Studies from McMaster University.
Her office will be located at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake and she will be supporting students at both campuses.
Please join me in welcoming Elysia to Niagara College!
