Message from President Sean Kennedy: Springing forward

After a tough winter full of uncertainty and stress, spring has arrived in all its glory and promise for growth, warmth and brighter days. As we look forward to a gradual return to normalcy in the coming weeks and months, and with the joyous news late last week of a faculty strike being averted through an agreement between the College Employer Council and the CAAT-Academic bargaining teams to enter binding interest arbitration, I am writing with great optimism for what lies ahead for our incredible college.

First and foremost, I am excited to have many more opportunities to connect in person with our students, employees, alumni and external stakeholders. I eagerly anticipate the launch of our bold new Strategic Plan, drawn from the trailblazing ideas of our college community through a wide range of inspirational consultations. I also look forward to many capstone projects and term-end award celebrations, our annual Day of Reflection, Convocation ceremonies in mid-June, and seeing many NC employees and students involved in various aspects of the Canada Summer Games in August.

After surviving the stormiest of seas, it’s full steam ahead for the good ship NC! I will be forever grateful for the dedication, resilience and caring that you have demonstrated over the past two years of pandemic turbulence, and am indescribably proud of our unwavering commitment to supporting student success, each other, and our communities. As we transition back to a fuller level of on-campus activities, let’s be sure to make time to savour our beautiful campuses, our relationships, and the dynamic energy of our students.

Wishing you a great week, and a spring full of renewal and growth.
