On February 14, Nation Talk and Education News Canada shared Niagara College’s release about its REDress Project initiatives during the week of Feb. 14-18. The initiative is dedicated to raising awareness of Missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) and Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and Asexual (2SLGBTQQIA+) people.

Along with Brock University, NC will display red dresses at its campuses during the week to raise awareness of the project and to honour the people who were victims of colonial violence over the past 40 years. Niagara’s two postsecondary institutions also organized a REDress panel event on Feb. 14, which was open to the community.

NC’s release includes comments from Lianne Gagnon, Director of Student Services, and Indigenous Student Success Leader Emily Schutt.
