On November 16, CBC comedy show This Hour Has 22 Minutes aired a segment on Niagara College’s Commercial Cannabis Production (CCP) program. The three-minute segment featured Bill Macdonald, Program Coordinator of NC’s CCP program, and a look inside the College’s ‘Cannabunker’ facility at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
22 Minutes correspondent Leonard Chan visited NC for the anniversary of cannabis legalization in Canada, interviewing staff and students on growing cannabis to Health Canada standards in the “program designed to meet the demand for qualified growers.”
Macdonald outlines how cannabis is grown, studied, harvested, dried, and ultimately destroyed at the College, according to the terms of their Health Canada research license. The footage depicts the College’s cannabis crops in full bloom and ready to harvest.
In his closing, Chan said, “While the future of legal cannabis in Canada is still unclear, what we do know is it’s a billion dollar industry, and the fine folks at Niagara College are making cannabis safer for all of us.”
