Niagara College will mark Remembrance Day on November 11 to honour and remember the people who have served, and continue to serve Canada during times of conflict and peace.

College flags, which had been lowered to honour the lives and spirits of the Indigenous children who were victims of residential schools in Canada, were raised as of Nov. 8 at sunset, and will be lowered again for Remembrance Day on Nov. 11, consistent with the Federal government’s approach.

If you are on campus, John McCrae’s In Flanders Fields will be recited over the PA system at 11 a.m, followed by a moment of silence.

For those working or learning remotely, please also remember to pause at this time to join colleagues and students participating in this important service of remembrance to reflect on the contributions of the 2.3 million Canadians who have served during our nation’s history, including those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and the world.

Faculty and students from our Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film program have once again partnered with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 613. They will livestream the Legion’s outdoor Remembrance Day service in Fonthill beginning at 10:45 a.m. for members of the community to view online. The ceremony will also be aired via NC’s Facebook Live.
