An article in the Niagara Dailies featured the LCBO’s Spirit of Inclusion Initiative that includes a partnership with Niagara College.
Through the initiative, which aims to help increase the lack of diversity in the alcohol industry, the LCBO is funding bursaries for NC students who self-identify as a woman from a diverse background including Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC). The bursaries will be distributed to four students from each of the College’s beverage programs (Artisan Distilling, Winery and Viticulture Technician, Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management, Beverage Business Management) later this fall.
The article includes quotes from NC’s Marc Nantel, Vice President of Research and External Relations, and Craig Youdale, CFWI Dean.
In addition to bursaries, the LCBO is working with partners to establish mentorship and continued education for diverse women who are looking to begin or advance their training in the winery, brewery and distillery fields.
