Niagara Dailies: Growing history: Chautauqua oak trees planted in NOTL with help from Niagara College

On October 18, the Niagara Dailies and Niagara This Week featured a piece about the Chautauqua oak tree planting event that took place on October 13 in Niagara-on-the-Lake. At the event, 50 Chautauqua oak tree were planted by community volunteers including a group of 13 first-year Horticulture Technician program students, as well as program faculty and staff from NC’s Teaching Greenhouse.

The article mentions that many of the trees were grown at the College from acorns that were collected from the Chautauqua neighbourhood, an effort that Niagara-on-the-Lake Lord Mayor Betty Disero believes is a “job well done.”
