Niagara College receives a mention in the Niagara Dailies for its part in supporting a new community-based coastal  monitoring program called Niagara’s Visual Assessment Survey Tool (VAST).

Developed in partnership with NC, the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority and the Niagara Coastal Community Collaborative, VAST aims to “engage communities along Lake Erie in the stewardship of shoreline resiliency and healthy coastal ecosystems and be part of an ever-expanding coastal monitoring network.”

Annie Michaud, a professor in NC’s School of Environment and Horticulture, is quoted in the article speaking to how community-based initiatives like VAST provide learning opportunities for students in addition to supporting the environment.
