NC students have a new one-stop, user-friendly online resource to help them navigate their college journey.
Called LauNCh, the new web destination offers both first-term and returning students a simplified way to access information, resources and supports at NC. Four modules – Introduction to Learning at NC, Blackboard Basics, Student Success, and Personal Wellness – outline key information students need to succeed at NC, including advice on how to get started on their college journey, how to succeed academically, how to navigate the Blackboard portal, as well as tips on academic and student success.
“We are hopeful that this streamlined approach will make it easier for students, staff and faculty to access important information at the College,” said Shari Walsh, associate director, student engagement, Academic Advising, and Career Services, who was part of a team that worked on LauNCh. “This will not only make it easier for students, but we hope it will relieve a level of stress during the start of a new term. It’s also an easy-to-use guide for staff and faculty as they support students.”
Walsh noted that the LauNCh guide was created to support students as new academic delivery models were implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“During a high point of change at NC, it was identified that one collective resource would be helpful to provide for students as well as a helpful resource for NC staff and faculty to use as they support students,” she said.
Representatives from Enrolment Services, Library and Learning Commons, Engagement, Advising and Career Services, the Centre for Academic Excellence, and International worked together to identify information to be included and developed content for the site.
Students will be introduced to LauNCh during Orientation and it will be promoted through Academic Advising and social media.
