Lindsay Smith looked to Niagara College for an applied learning experience when she enrolled in the Journalism program. Two years later, she is happy to report that she received exactly what she was looking for, as well as a Dean’s Award for her hard work. As her time at NC comes to a close on June 17 when she officially graduates, Smith is excited to write the next chapter in her journey.

Academic achievement: Dean’s Award, School of Media (98%)

We caught up with Smith who reflected on her NC experience:

“When I decided to study Journalism at Niagara College, I was hoping to receive a practical education
that would give me options for future career paths, and that’s exactly what happened. I had the chance to learn from supportive, experienced professors who truly wanted their students to succeed, and they inspired and motivated me to my best work.

It was a full and busy two years while I balanced classes and schoolwork with parenting, but it was absolutely worth it, and receiving the Dean’s Award feels like a recognition of the time and effort I invested.

I don’t know exactly what the future holds, but I know this program has prepared me for lots of possibilities, and I’m excited to take these skills into my next chapter.”

Niagara College is celebrating its 5,000 spring graduates with its first-ever virtual convocation ceremonies from June 15-19. Visit the College’s Virtual Convocation site to view the schedule or to access the livestream ceremonies: niagaracollege.ca/virtualconvocation/.
