The Niagara Dailies/Niagara This Week covered how local health care workers are ramping up the use of technology to offer virtual visits with Welland seniors amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

NC received a mention by Stephanie Barber, community relations coordinator for Royal Rose Place, for the success of a new virtual placement with our students. This is one of a variety of initiatives and placements in long-term care homes underway from the Community and Health Studies division.

Barber said, “While the technology is new for many of our residents, they light up every time they get to use it to connect with their loved ones…Three students are currently paired up with residents and provide programs and activities remotely. We have seen great success with this project and Brock University may also be going in that direction.”
