Niagara Now: NC professor Paul Zammit on extended daffodil blooming season in Niagara

Jessica Maxwell with Niagara Now writes about the early daffodil season this spring in Niagara-on-the-Lake, the result of an irregular winter. Maxwell draws on the knowledge of Niagara College professor of horticulture, Paul Zammit, who explains that the warmer winter with little snow factors into the daffodils’ longevity this season. By another token, Zammit contests that snowfall is important for the life-cycle of gardens, providing much-needed moisture to plans and minimizing pests and disease.
