With online and remote studies beginning tomorrow, we strongly encourage students to be aware of the following measures and directives that have been instituted to protect the health and safety of all students, Niagara College employees and our community due to COVID-19. For these measures to be effective it is very important that all members of the Niagara College community comply:
Do not come to campus unless you absolutely have to:
Access to our campuses is tightly restricted. Niagara College students will only be allowed on campus in exceptional circumstances. Due to social distancing requirements as outlined by Public Health, on-campus computer access is very limited compared to past practice and students can expect wait times and limits on how long each student will be allowed access to a computer. Computer access will be from 10 am to 3 pm only.
There is no foodservice available on campus, and no in-person services are available, as our employees work remotely. For information on how to access student services remotely, or supports that are available to students, click here.
If you have travelled outside of Canada in the last 14 days - including to the United States, you must self isolate for 14 days, and you are not permitted to come to campus for any reason:
The Government of Canada has directed that as of March 13, anyone returning to Canada from another country - including any travel to the United States - is required to self-isolate for 14 days regardless of whether you are experiencing symptoms. For further information related to travel, please visit the Government of Canada's website here. Instructions for self-isolating and self-monitoring are available on the right-hand menu of our dedicated COVID-19 web page. Practice social distancing:
One of the most important measures for containing the spread of COVID-19 is social distancing - wherever you are. Any students who are admitted on to campus for an exceptional circumstance must practice social distancing, and it will be strictly enforced. Social distancing means:
- Limiting contact with others as much as possible;
- Keeping a distance of at least two arms lengths from others - if you can reach out and touch each other, you're too close;
- Greet with a wave instead of a handshake or hug.
