A message from Pam Skinner, senior vice-president, Corporate Services:

I am pleased to announce that following an extensive search process, Rob Burwash will be joining the Niagara College family as the director of Human Resources as of March 23, 2020. With 28 years of experience as an HR generalist with a focus on labour relations, Rob comes to us most recently from the University Health Network where he is the Director of Labour Relations. His prior roles included Director of Employee Health and Labour Relations at the City of Hamilton, and Senior Employee Relations Consultant at Canadian Blood Services, where he was responsible for leading collective bargaining and managing the full suite of its region’s HR functions.

Having first discovered a love for human resources as a student at Niagara College, Rob has worked with multiple unions across Canada, provided leadership in the areas of succession planning, leadership development programs and restructuring, and is experienced in developing and delivering leadership training. Before coming to Niagara College, Rob completed two years of undergraduate studies in Law at Carleton University. After graduating from Niagara College with a Diploma in Business Administration with a specialty in HR Management, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Labour Studies at McMaster, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.

Rob is known for his respectful, engaging and collaborative style, his solution-focused approach, and his deep knowledge of human resources. Rob’s sense of humour, passion for HR and enthusiasm for returning to Niagara College will make him a welcome addition to the Corporate Services management team, and the NC family.
