Update: Niagara College campuses are open on February 6, and all classes and activities are running normally.
Please note that Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for North and South Niagara for Thursday February 6. Heavy snow Wednesday night will likely become mixed with ice pellets. The snow or ice pellets will then continue through the day Thursday. Light freezing rain is also possible Thursday morning. Total snowfall amounts of 5 to 15 cm are possible, leading to potentially hazardous conditions for the Thursday commute.
Niagara College will continue to monitor this weather event, and any updates will be posted to the College’s website and social media channels.
Students, staff and visitors should use extra caution when travelling to and around College campuses, and allow extra time to park. Please stay clear of operating equipment when snow-clearing work is underway. Walk carefully on snow- or ice-covered surfaces, especially slopes or stairs, and wear appropriate footwear.
A reminder that Niagara College’s Severe Weather Closures policy outlines a framework for college closures in cases of inclement weather, including how such decisions are made and communicated to the college community, as well as staff responsibilities in cases of a campus closure. Decisions to close campuses before the start of the business day will be made and communicated as early as possible, with the intent to alert the college community by 6:30 a.m. via the college’s website and social media channels.
