Northern Ontario Business published a story on a new venture in the North to explore the commercial potential of growing hops.
Researchers planted a small hop yard in Fort Frances, with much success. With the growth of the craft beer market in Northern Ontario, there is a demand for locally grown crops and commercial processes.
Brad Barta, assistant brewer at the Niagara College Teaching Brewery weighs in, explaining that “there is an inherent risk in the hops supply chain in its current manifestation.”
