A message from John FT Scott, Chair, Niagara College Board of Governors:
I’m pleased to share that Shane Malcolm has been appointed to the Niagara College Board of Governors. His term will span from November 1, 2019 to August 31, 2022.
Shane is a passionate member of the Niagara community, and has strong ties to the College. He is a double graduate of the College, obtaining his Culinary Management diploma in 2011, and his Bachelor of Applied Business Hospitality Operations Management in 2014. Shane was also the first international student in Niagara College’s history to lead the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC), serving as president from 2014 – 2016. He also served as a student representative on the NC Board of Governors and our Foundation Board.
Shane continues to make significant contributions to the student body at Niagara College. He delivered a convocation address and was honoured with Niagara College’s Distinguished Alumni Award at the Fall 2019 Convocation ceremonies, and he continues to be an invaluable resource to our NCSAC team.
Shane is currently the Executive Director of Leadership Niagara, where he has led the organization through brand development and governance reform, and spearheaded the incorporation of the organization as a not-for-profit. He continues to stay involved in the community as a board member for the Boys and Girls Club of Niagara, the St. Catharines Club, and the Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce NEXT Niagara Council.
In 2017, he was the recipient of the Business Link’s Niagara 40 Under Forty Business Achievement Award, and In 2018, he was nominated for an Ontario Premier’s Award and received Pride Niagara’s Ed Elded Award.
Shane’s intimate knowledge of Niagara College and his passion for community service will make him a valuable addition to the College’s Board of Governors. Please join me in welcoming Shane.
